What we offer
We commission staff and students with creative production, research and consultancy projects. Every brief is different, so all our solutions are bespoke.
We love working on commissions about artistic dialogue, interaction and experimentation, and can help with any aspect of art and design. We offer creative ideas; product piloting, prototyping and launching; research insights; and knowledge exchange.

Discover Studio KT1
Studio KT1 gives students the opportunity to work on commercial projects, get paid and gain real-world experience alongside their studies.
The initiative is all about boosting employability, encouraging cross-disciplinary collaboration and developing new products and services.
Studio KT1 has already:
- Worked with Mozilla on an AI installation for their
- Built a light-up polar bear for Veolia to highlight homelessness in the capital
- Disrupted the with an office chair race
- Launched 'Kingston Canvas' with
- Curated events and installations at the Bentall Centre

Working examples
BBC One’s The Big Painting Challenge chose Kingston School of Art lecturer, Pascal Anson, to provide mentorship and advice during the filming process.
Pascal Anson is a graphic design, product and furniture design and art foundation tutor. On the show, he struck a balance between clarity and detail, helping to explain complex artistic ideas and practices.

The annual V&A Awards recognise the best illustrated book, book cover, editorial illustration and student illustrator of the year.
Second year Kingston School of Art Illustration Animation BA (Hons) student Vivien Chan gained backstage access at the London Fashion Show, and created 70 drawings of the action.
She submitted three to the V&A Awards, and won a runner up prize with her submission.
Eight second-year Fashion BA(Hons) students worked with fashion sustainability champion Dr Noki and London-based Canadian designer Todd Lynn to create a series of sculptures.
The pieces were installed in the Canadian High Commission in Central London at the launch of London Fashion Week.
They demonstrated the potential for sustainable design practices by using recycled and second-hand items – mirroring the ecological approach of Canada's indigenous communities.
The impressive use of up-cycling and sustainable materials demonstrate the true power of imagination.
