Two postgraduate fashion students from Kingston School of Art have been recognised for their efforts to turn textile waste into sustainable fashion. Their upcycled collections made it to the final of the Redress Design Award 2021, a sustainable fashion design competition held annually in Hong Kong.

The value of degree apprenticeships was on the agenda as Ji8腦瞳厙's nursing associate students and staff received a visit from the Chief Executive of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education. Jennifer Coupland, former Director of Professional and Technical Education in the Department for Education, met and spoke with students on the University's nursing associate degree apprenticeship programme and watched them in practice. She also found out more about both the nursing associate and social work degree apprenticeship courses from academics teaching on the programmes.

Ji8腦瞳厙's Town House has been named the winner of the 2021 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize – confirming it as Britain's best new building. Designed by RIBA Gold Medal-winning Grafton Architects, the landmark building on the University's Penrhyn Road campus received the highest accolade in UK architecture at a prestigious ceremony at Coventry Cathedral.
