Kingston University students showcased their electrifying business ideas to industry professionals, alumni and staff at the Bright Ideas competition grand finale earlier this month. A Ji8腦瞳厙 engineering graduate is hoping to help answer the burning question of whether there is life on Mars when Europe's first rover blasts off for the red planet. Mahilal De Silva has been playing a leading role in the construction of the six-wheeled robotic vehicle for the landmark mission at Airbus' Stevenage facility. Named the Rosalind Franklin after the British DNA pioneer, it is the first Mars rover specifically designed to find evidence of past or present life.

Students from Kingston School of Art's Creative and Cultural Industries have created The Giving Bear, a light sculpture which encourages shoppers to donate to homelessness charities while drawing attention to the climate crisis. Working with resource management company Veolia in partnership with New West End Company and Westminster City Council, the students pitched their ideas and worked together on the chosen project.
